My best friend made me maid of honor and we can't agree on a dress! HELP! ?
We have two totally different styles and personalities. Her wedding (in my opinion) is so tacky as is. It's an Irish/ woodland fairy tale theme? Her fiancé and groomsmen are wearing kilts. She is wearing a plain typical wedding dress. Now she wants her brides maids to wear different color dresses in fall colors. She is not picking anything figure flattering. [I am very curvaceous and busty and her other maiden is a bigger girl.] I have tried to tell her politely that none of this is comprehensive and I don't understand her direction. Also quite frankly her wedding planning and budget (under a 1000$ for the WHOLE thing) is so none- exsistant that im having a hard time taking it seriously add kilts to that (when they dont practice irish heritage) and i just wanna die. It's ruining our friendship because she feels like I'm being selfish. I understand it's her day but I want to be comfortable and feel good standing in front of 150+ people as well. I've tried showing her ideasthat I find flattering and would feel comforting but she jut says no without even thinking about it. She says she's goin for a midevil style dress... it's 2012! Where am I supposed to find that!?! Her wedding is in October. At this point I'm thinking about just dropping out whiles there's still time... any suggestions. PLEASE HELP! We've been best friends for 10 yrs. and this will be the end of us. :( I want her to be happy but I also don't want to spend money (that I can't afford to spare) on something horrible.

Married sister wants family to pay for her wedding - get me outta this?
I'll TRY to keep this short My sister has been married for 6 years. They had a small get together at the courthouse and dinner afterward.(I remember the date because she planned her "wedding" for the month after mine and it was all she wanted to talk about during my showers...). Now she feels the need to have a "real" wedding 6 years later, but she expects the families to pay for it. It is customary in our culture for close family members to volunteer to cover certain wedding expenses as a gift to the newlyweds. For example, my aunts paid for my cake, and my step-dad paid for the band, my uncle did the photos for free... Thing is, in her case, I don't think this is how the tradition works -- she's already married with two kids! Plus just 4 months ago she asked the whole family to send her as much money as they could to help her pay her rent. I sent her the 300 she asked for, but my husband felt that it was a one time thing and I know he would not be up for giving her more money this year for a wedding that she cannot afford. They are still struggling to make ends meet and plan on moving home to live with their in-laws once their tax money comes in. Plus she is planning this wedding for the month before we are due to have our first baby so I will not be allowed to fly in for the wedding because my doctor already told me I have to stay put after my 30 week mark. How do I go about not pitching in for this wedding without coming across as a total ***** (I know I'm being a little bit of one but that's ok...) I don't even want to hear about her planning, but anytime I talk to her she wants my advice on wedding planning - ugh!!!

What to do when he proposes?
So my boyfriend has pretty much told me when he's going to propose (on vacation on our 6 year anniversary) and I have a pretty good guess where because of the places we are visiting on our trip. I know the ring he bought me, seeing as he took me shopping to pick one out. So there is very little surprise in all of this. (We have been discussing wedding plans too, so the proposal is just a formality on his part) I'm totally fine with that, I would have been fine with just announcing our engagement right away but he really wants it to be romantic and somewhat traditional. So I'm trying to accommodate his wishes, but I know part of his "romantic plan" involves me being excited and all that when he proposes. But since there is absolutely no surprise on my part since I practically helped him plan it, I'm not sure how to react in a way that he will appreciate. I think it will be hard to feign surprise or shock or any of that. It just seems kind of silly to me :P But I know this is important to him and I want to make him happy. Any idea's about how to do my part to make this the romantic event that he wants it to be? sorry, just to be clear HE wants it to be a surprise not me, i don't care. Obviously the answer is yes, but I feel like he really wants it to be this big grand romantic surprise, but it isn't and I'm not sure how to act in a way that will make him happy. He really likes surprising me and wants me to get really excited and happy about it (like with birthday presents) but I'm bad at pretending to be excited and this isn't a surprise at all so I'm afraid he will be disappointed.
