Choosing The Pet of Your Choice

Children enjoy playing with pets. In case they do not have a pet of their own, they may insist on owning one. At times it is a good idea to give the child a pet as it teaches the child to be responsible for it. However it is imperative for you to know the kind of pet you want to have in your home. If you are looking for unconditional love and security, then the answer is a dog. In case you are looking for a pet that minds itself, then a cat may be a suitable choice. A water lover may prefer to have an aquarium with plants and fishes of different varieties, though you could have a simple glass bowl with gold fish in it. Birds like parrots, cockatoos make good pets. Other pets include hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, reptiles etc.

There are certain thumb rules that go with the care of all pets. First of all, all pets need training, care and attention, though the degree may vary. A dog makes the best friend but requires great care and attention. It has to be walked and given the requisite amount of exercise. An untrained dog can create havoc in the house or even outside, in the garden. It loves to chew on shoes etc. A cat might topple a glass jar or any thing breakable. So while you will need to rearrange your house to accommodate the pet, you will have to ensure that it is trained properly to satisfy your needs.

The dog would require a collar and a lead for walks, a bowl, dog food, dog bones to chew, toys to play with and disinfectants, cleaning, grooming, medical products and flea treatment, along with a bedding to sleep on. A cat would need most of the above mentioned items along with scratching posts, cat harness, feeding accessories and cat carriers. Both dogs and cats would need flaps to enter and exit the house among other miscellaneous products.

In case this is too much for you to handle, then you may consider buying a gold fish or an aquarium which does not require regular care. Birds are another good option as they only need to be fed once or twice during the day. Both fish and birds require feed, cleaning products and disinfectants. An aquarium will have to be cleaned once a month or so and plants need to be replaced. A heating device will be needed during the cold weather and filtration and aeration products are a must.

If this seems like a big task, then you can always get a rabbit, hamster or mice as a pet. You will still need to feed and clean it and its living area. In order to break the monotony you may have to buy a hamster wheel or a hamster ball, a wooden roller toy or a rabbit tunnel. A rabbit hutch and run is ideal if you want to keep the pet in the garden.

My parents try and ruin my life.?
I'm not allowed to go round to friends houses, or them come to mine, they'll never take me anywhere unless they're going themselves. Just a few days ago I told my mum I was going to get a job pot washing at the pub down the road, my friend works there to and I've been planning to get a job there for years, just waiting until i was old enough. My mum just went 'no, you don't do anything at home so your not allowed a job'. Shes mental I clean my room twice a week because if I don't she takes my stuff, I take care of the pet rabbits every day and I'm never rude or do anything rebellious. And I've had to put up with sharing a room with my sister until I was 13, even though we have two spare bedrooms in the house, my parents just kept saying 'when I was little, I shared a room so you can too' I'm 14 and I love coldplay, so when coldplay tickets went on sale I begged for some as a birthday and christmas present but I wasn't allowed because they said they were too expensive: they were £60 which is alot of money but not as a joint present for birthday and christmas! They gave my older sister a laptop and £160 for just her birthday! Im sick of my friends asking me round and having to tell them I can't do anything because I'm not allowed - now they've just stopped asking. I miss out on everything and I'm never going to have a life. This sounds immature just wining on about them but I'm sick of being treated like dirt and a six year old. If I ever try and talk to them about it they go crazy and have a go at me. And one last thing - My sisters are getting/have got A and A*s on the GCSEs, whereas I'm just about on a C. My parents keep shouting at me and saying i must not be trying when I'm trying really hard I'm just stupid. Eurgh I hate my life and have no friends. I want to run away from home, can't wait till I'm old enough to move out.
