i need help with my art portfolio entry into university. Im not sure what i should do, can someone help?
Ok well, I am applying to a university, and to enter I need an art portfolio for my interview. The University gives a portfolio brief every year which is to be completed by prospective students (me). I opened it up, and I am lost at the first Hurdle. I mean I just dont know what to do. Section A is to make creative brainstorming for the 4 themes which are Machine, Container, Garden and Organism and create 4 A1 mind maps from the brainstorming. I am not sure what this means?? What are mind maps??, has anyone done a portfolio before, because i have never worked on such large sheets and I am not sure what to fill them with?? I want to study architecture, so should i just be sketching or use different media. Should I use some cut outs aswell as drawing or just drawing, and I AM just really lost on what I should do, Its really daunting for me. I guess Im just afraid because i dont want to be doing the wrong thing. I need some help and advice on this. Anything is good thanks in advance

With the ongoing drought, is it O.K. to start a container garden?
I have already bought all I need to start a Container garden (minus the PLANTS.) I had planned to container-garden because of the ongoing drought conditions and to give me something else to do outdoors. Am I WISE to start this in the century-high temps or are my aims a bit overdoing my tolerance and water-availability w.i. my region? I am in the Texas Panhandle, where it is still HOT as H**l and it gets as COLD as H**l (all within a 24-hour timespan)!

My Herb Container garden got attacked by Japanese Beatles I vacuumed them off with a shopvac but read that?
they lay there grubs in the soil. Which would be my containers!!! What do I do now? These are all perennial herbs that I overwinter in the garage and bring out again in spring I don't want grubs killing off all the root system after all the hard work I did! How can I fix my problem in a container environment? I know there hard to miss when there big but while trying to research about it they get big by eating my roots! I need to get them out asap as I think my plants are already suffering :( I had literally hundreds of these stupid bugs all over my 20 plants and when I was vacuuming them off I saw a ton of them burrowing into the soil of my pots and had to vacuum them out as well. They eat mate burrow lay eggs and do it over again and again like every 20 minutes. Stupid bugs make me not want to ever have a garden again :(
